Production Process

Bitter-flavoured spirit drinks or bitter are spirits with a predominantly bitter taste that are produced by flavouring alcohol of agricultural origin with flavouring substances and/or natural flavouring preparations.   (When the new spirit drinks regulation enters force, i.e. about spring 2021, the use of distillate of agricultural origin will also be permitted.)  The spirits produced can also be sold under the name ‘bitter’ or ‘amer’, with or without another term.
