Production Process
Flavoured vodka is made by giving vodka a dominant flavour other than that of its raw materials. Vodka itself is produced from alcohol of agricultural origin, which can be made from any agricultural raw material and must be distilled at a minimum of 96% vol.. The agricultural raw materials have to be fermented using yeast and distilled so that their organoleptic characteristics, and those of any by-products from the fermentation process, are selectively reduced.
As an alternative to the name ‘flavoured vodka’, the spirit may be sold using the name of the predominant flavour along with the word ‘vodka’.

Strength
Flavoured vodka sold to consumers has a minimum alcoholic strength of 37.5% vol..

Permitted
Flavoured vodka can be sweetened, blended, flavoured, matured or coloured. (When the new spirit drinks regulation enters force, i.e. about spring 2021, a maximum of 100g of sugar will be permitted in flavoured vodka.)
