Production Process
Gin is a juniper-flavoured spirit drink that is produced by flavouring alcohol of agricultural origin with juniper berries. Other flavouring substances and flavouring preparations may also be used so long as the spirit tastes predominantly of juniper.
If the gin contains less than 0.1g of sugar per litre of final product, it may be called ‘dry’ gin.
Strength
Gin sold to consumers has a minimum alcoholic strength of 37.5% vol..
Permitted
The addition of colours and sweetening products (the latter being tightly limited if the product is a ‘dry’ gin).
